Jubilant's terminal emulator improves InBev's host MRP applications, increasing productivity with an improved user interface, faster operation, and greater system stability.

When InBev (formerly InterBrew UK) needed to improve access to its data entry and stock control systems, it chose Jubilant's terminal emulator to develop and implement a new web-based interface. The brewing giant then returned, seeking further benefits through an enhanced application built in record time on the same platform.

Complex screens, made simple

The emulator takes data directly from the iSeries-based Invensys Prism MRP system and feeds it into intuitive, user-friendly browser pages for operators at the brewery. Many complex screens from the old system are combined into simple, logical data-entry screens — much faster to use, with errors greatly reduced through limited input ranges and drop-down menus. Operators also find it far easier to reconcile actual stock levels with those recorded in the system.

Security that fits the estate

Access to the new application is governed by existing InBev security mechanisms: the iSeries sign-on connects directly to the standard Microsoft ASP.NET web application security model, so users have no extra username and password to remember. Contemporary error and exception handling with detailed logs marries well with the .NET platform, keeping the final application robust and simple to maintain.
