Policy Entry Cut From Ninety Minutes to Under Two

Canada Life implemented Jubilant's terminal emulator to improve productivity — reducing data entry errors and the time spent correcting and checking data integrity.

Canada Life needed to improve the speed and efficiency of data entry into its new business input system. With no online integration between Windows server-based systems and the mainframe policy processing system, input was heavily duplicated — and the complexity of Canada Life's products forced users through sixty iterations of similar screens per bond policy. Each policy could take over an hour and a half of operator time, with a high risk of data entry error.

Sixty screens become one

Jubilant provided a rapid solution: a single, intuitive .NET client interface to the host system that replaced the sixty screen iterations. Users enter recurring data once and subsequent screens populate automatically — behind the scenes, multiple 3270 sessions are treated as one transaction. The time required to create bond policies fell to under two minutes on average, with no massive redevelopment of the existing systems.

Chosen over the alternatives

Canada Life compared Jubilant with alternative solutions from Attachmate and Jacada, choosing it for superior functionality, speed, and ease of use — including the familiar .NET developer interface and the ability to control multiple host sessions. Success with the Bond business led to a swift decision to extend the benefits to all new business entry throughout CLOAS, the system used to manage life insurance policies.
