iSeries Usability Solved in One Month

Alcan chose Jubilant to improve the usability of its iSeries environment — and to train its staff to meet today's web-based heritage challenges.

A turnkey package, not just software

Beyond delivering software, Jubilant provided a full turnkey package that included training Alcan's RPG development team in .NET. The course was shaped around delivering a key piece of new functionality, so the team learned a new skill while the organization gained a new web-based interface layer for the Lynemouth Smelter Works in Newcastle.

From training course to production systems

The course covered installing and running the Jubilant software suite, developing web applications in .NET, and using the API. It was followed by a week of bedding in back at Alcan, with the Jubilant team mentoring while a second application took shape: a browser-based interface for the Cast Order and Sawing Detail Entry system. What had been a manually crafted document, re-keyed onto the iSeries, became a fully online process — reducing time to value and data entry errors while increasing operational efficiency.
